PDF to SVG

Turn each page of a PDF into an SVG drawing that stays sharp at any size.

Checking that the servers are available…

Pro. Runs on our servers: encrypted in transit, deleted automatically.

Quick facts

Takes
One PDF, up to 200 MB and 500 pages. A password-protected PDF is refused until it is unlocked.
Gives
One SVG drawing per page; several pages come in one ZIP, the files named by page number in order.
Runs
On our servers: Poppler’s pdftocairo draws each page, under limits on memory and time, and the job is deleted as soon as the result is fetched.
Plan
Pro: 200 tasks a day on our servers, and a task that fails is not counted. The tools that run in your browser stay free.
Text
Text becomes outlined shapes, so the drawing looks the same in every program, with or without the fonts. It cannot be edited as text.

Lines stay lines

The lines, shapes and letters of a page are written as SVG paths, which any size of screen or print renders sharply: a logo, a chart or a floor plan can be scaled up without a single blurred edge, cut on a plotter or edited in Illustrator or Inkscape. Pictures on the page are embedded in the SVG at their own resolution.

A scanned page is a picture to begin with, and its SVG is that picture inside a drawing; to work with the words of a scan, run OCR PDF first. For pictures of the pages rather than drawings, use PDF to JPG, which works in your browser.

Measured on our sample file

The service as it runs on uvpdftool.com, on 2026-10-26: the sample report drawn through the same job flow the tool uses.

A page comes back several times the size it has in the PDF, because every letter is written out as a path instead of a reference to a font. One file per page, a few seconds for a short report.

What it cannot do

  • Keep text as editable text. Text becomes shapes, so it looks the same everywhere.
  • Turn a scan into a vector drawing. A scanned page stays a picture inside the SVG.
  • Take more than 500 pages. Split the file first.

Pro runs 200 tasks a day on our servers, counted from midnight UTC, and a task that fails is not counted. The count starts again the next day.

  3. Download the SVG, or the ZIP of them when there are several pages.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the text in the SVG?
Text becomes shapes, so it looks the same everywhere, even without the fonts. Edit the PDF before converting if words need to change.
Are pictures kept?
Yes. Pictures on the page are embedded in the SVG at their own resolution.
How many pages can I convert?
Up to 500 pages in one file; split a longer file first.
Will the SVG open in Illustrator or Inkscape?
Yes. The files are standard SVG and open in design programs and browsers.
Is a scanned PDF any better as SVG?
No. A scan is a picture, and its SVG is that picture inside a drawing; lines and shapes come only from pages that have them.
