The short version
A purchase on UV pdfTool that has not been used, whether a Pro or Team subscription, a Pro pass, an AI pack or an API pack, is refunded in full within 14 days of the payment, for any reason. Ask, and it is done. A subscription can be cancelled at any time, so that it is not charged again, and a refund is given after use or after 14 days where the law or fairness calls for one.
What counts as use
- A subscription or a pass has been used once, with it, a task has run on our servers, an AI credit has been spent or a document has been sent for signature; for a team, by any of its members. Using the tools that run in your browser does not count as use.
- An AI pack has been used once any of its own credits have been spent. Credits are spent from the lot that lapses first, so the month’s credits of Pro, which lapse at the end of the month, normally go before a pack’s, which last a year; the account page shows what is left of each.
- An API pack has been used once a live key has spent any of its tasks. A job that fails gives its task back, and test keys never spend one.
Who refunds you
Purchases are sold by Paddle.com Market Limited (“Paddle”), the merchant of record for UV ResearchLabs. Paddle charged your card and Paddle pays the refund, to the same payment method, usually within five to ten working days of approval depending on your bank. You can ask us or Paddle; either way the answer is the same.
How to ask
- Write to the address at the foot of this page from the email address of your account, naming the purchase (the invoice from Paddle names it). We approve every request for an unused purchase made within 14 days without asking why.
- Or use the link in Paddle’s receipt email, which opens Paddle’s own request form; Paddle passes the request to us and we approve it the same way.
- Cancelling a subscription is not a refund request: cancel on the account page under “Manage billing”, and the subscription runs to the end of the period already paid for. If that period started less than 14 days ago and you would rather have the money back, say so and we refund it instead.
What a refund changes
- A refunded subscription or pass ends at once, with the AI credits that came with it, and the account returns to the free plan unless it has Pro from somewhere else.
- The credits of a refunded AI pack, or the tasks of a refunded API pack, are removed from the account, including any already spent; if more were spent than are left, the balance goes below zero until something is bought again. Credits and tasks from other purchases are unaffected.
- We may offer a partial refund for a period that was mostly unused.
After 14 days
A subscription renewal made more than 14 days ago is not refunded as of right, since the renewal date is shown on the account page and in Paddle’s reminder email, but we do refund a renewal that was clearly not wanted (the account did not use Pro in that period), and anything the service failed to deliver. Passes, AI packs and API packs more than 14 days old are not refunded unless the service failed. Write to us in any case: a reasonable request gets a reasonable answer.
Chargebacks
Asking your bank to reverse a payment costs everyone more than asking us, and it is never necessary: we refund an unused purchase within 14 days without questions. A payment reversed through the bank is treated as a refund, with the same consequences, and the account may lose the ability to buy again.
Your statutory rights
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have a right to withdraw from a purchase of a digital service within 14 days. An unused purchase is refunded in full, with no form or reason. Pro starts as soon as it is paid for, at your request; if you withdraw after using it, the refund is reduced in proportion to what was used, as the law provides. Nothing here limits the rights you have as a consumer under the laws of the country where you live. The terms of use say more about Pro, passes and AI credits.
